Next Time Try Natural Headache Remedies

Most of us get the occasional headache and it’s no big deal. A bit uncomfortable, but a couple of aspirin will fix you up. Migraine headaches are another story. If you’ve ever had one, you know you never want to have another. The trouble is, some people are afflicted with frequent migraines, and nothing seems to help. Well, here’s some good news for those of you who suffer from migraines. There are a number of herbs, singly and in combinations that provide you with effective and, in some cases, preventative migraine headache remedies. Take a look at some of the best.

One of the most reliable and well researched migraine headache remedies is feverfew, a herb with a proven clinical track record and widely used in Europe as a preventative for migraine attacks. The active constituent is effective against chemicals in the brain which dilate blood vessels and which cause migraines. Feverfew, like many herbs, are slow to act, and must be used for a couple of months before the effects are felt. Please note that feverfew is a preventative, but won’t help relieve pain once an attack is already underway.

Many independent clinical studies have concluded that daily use of feverfew as a migraine headache remedy does indeed prevent migraine attacks. Included in the double-blind studies were patients who had used feverfew as a preventative for years. Those who were given a placebo in place of their regular dose of feverfew experienced a resurgence of migraine attacks, suffering frequent and severe migraines. Those provided with the regular dose of feverfew remained migraine free for the six month period of testing.

Feverfew is not recommended for pregnant or nursing mothers.

Another of the natural migraine headache remedies is ginger tea, particularly suited to ongoing migraines situated in the front of the head. Taken at the onset of an attack, ginger tea will provide relief in as little as 30 minutes. Continued use of ginger tea, consumed six times each day results in fewer and less severe attacks. Ginger tea is also fragrant and tasty!

Other effective migraine headache remedies you may want to try include the following:

Kava Kava, native to the South Pacific, has been used for centuries for its relaxing properties, useful in cases of stress related migraines.

Valerian root is another of the migraine headache remedies useful in stress induced headaches. Valerian may act as a preventative if your migraines are stress related. Valerian root is a powerful relaxant, so use discretion when driving or operating machinery.

If your migraines are characterized by insomnia or irregular menstrual cycles, Jamaican dogwood may be one of your migraine headache remedies of choice.

Chamomile tea is a good preventative among the better migraine headache remedies.

Lavender oil, rubbed across the forehead and temples, eases pain and spasms.

If you suffer from migraines, try some of these natural headache remedies. A knowledgeable herbalist may have other headache remedies not discussed here which will bring you the relief you need.

I have the flu I think, my mother wants me to eat a whole lemon!?
I came home yesterday with a high temperature that later got higher into 100.5. I went through a combination of chills and fever until my body finally adjusted. I have a fever again now (small, but I feel the heat on my head). My mother says to eat a whole lemon to help my immune system. Last time I did that (I was so incredibley bored…), I had a stomach ache for hours plus a headache. I know lemon erodes tooth enamel and sugar coated lemon is just as bad. Any ideas? I am taking ibufren for the fever, but sometimes when I walk around I feel out of myself, like I am suddenly walking at different elevations, or going downhill one moment and uphill the next. I am drinking plenty of water and I have already spent most of the day resting on the couch reading. The one time I drifted off to sleep I woke up sweaty and overheated. No throwing up, no stuffy nose, bad dry cough, fever, plus mild sore throat.

What should I do about the lemon thing? Any other natural remedies?

lemon is a great source of vitamin c which is a really good vitamin to help stimulate your immune system..

i have an even stranger yet also very effective remedy.. try some exercise! anything simple from a brisk walk, yoga, maybe some biking jogging, whatever you enjoy.. only for half an hour it will get your heart pumping and help you get better!

also, echinacea is always the best bet in terms of natural herbs..

    get better!

PS. if you really feel out of it when youre walking, maybe you should avoid the exercise untill you feel better…

    get a lot of rest!

She wants you to eat the lemon for the vitamin C. That vitamin would boost your immune system and help you fight off whatever you have. Try this medicine called EmergenC. It’s supposed to give you the same boost of vitamin C to help you get better faster.

Lemon is rich in Vitamin C, but so is Orange Juice. Use the juice of a small lemon and boil water, add 1 cup of very hot water to the lemon and some honey to sweeten. It is easier then eating an entire lemon.
Hope you feel better soon. Good Luck.

    Cause
Fever is not a disease but a condition in the body wherein the balance of circulation has become disturbed. This is nature’s way of trying to burn out the toxic poisons. When the body becomes exposed to excessive chilling or dampness, the capillaries near the surface contract and the pores close by becoming obstructed with body waste matter. This results in a containment of body heat and a sudden rise of body temperature. In fever the natural body function is to increase the heat to a point wherein the thick glutinous and fibrinous matters loading and congesting the system are made liquid enough to pass through the fine and delicate excretory membranes and tubules.

If you want to heal yourself quickly then do Hydrotherapy. Get in the shower hot (dont burn yourself) and let your body adjust for a minute, then turn it all the way to COLD! You can yell if you like! That’s allowed! Do this for a minute as well. Do this rotation for at least 8 times. The idea is to blast new blood cells into the area that is sick. Hot water makes blood rise and cold pushes it down in the body. This process helps move new blood to the area and speeds up the healing process. End on cold.

Dress warm and go to bed. Drink lots of water and do it again tonight or in the morning until desired results are met.

    Best of health to you

You can buy vitamin C supplements at a drug store. Also, citric acid shouldn’t harm your teeth unless you eat lemons all the time. Chances are, the food you eat is more acidic then lemons anyways. If you find that you have to eat a lemon anyways, just drink some milk or take an antacid afterwards. That will neutralize the acidity in your stomach so it won’t hurt.

Lemon is also good for "cooling" the body (aromatherapy) and lifting for your spirits. If your looking for an immune system boost quick, eat a whole clove of raw garlic or ginger (same size piece as garlic, not whole thing) or take allot of echinachia. Another good soothing Essential Oil is Lavender. A good over the counter one is Vick’s, it has allot of good essential oils in it that are directed towards cold and flue symptoms. Slather it on. Hope that helps.
